The Daft Punk song is a classic.
And that title hits a nerve for most of us.
We want all of those things: -In training. -In nutrition.
-In life.
But while everything today is about optimal and perfect, we’re missing the boat.
You’ll see videos all day long about the optimal position for this lift.
Do this, not that.
The perfect post-workout meal.
The best timing for protein.
And we consume that information nonstop…while lacking the foundation.
You’re chasing optimal when you haven’t even mastered the basics.
You want the perfect workout split, but you haven’t trained consistently for more than a few weeks.
You’re searching for the perfect diet, but eating well hasn’t been a consistent priority in your life.
You’re worried about protein timing when you haven’t hit a protein target two days in a row.
We seek optimal…but haven’t mastered minimum.
And honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
We live in a click-driven, likes-and-shares world.
The second you look at or talk about something, your phone floods your feed with more of it.
So we start to believe that if we just do those optimal things, we’ll finally get results.
But here’s the harsh truth:
If you haven’t nailed the fundamentals, optimal doesn’t matter.
"It’s not what you do once in a while that changes your life. It’s what you do every day."
It’s the small, subtle habits —the ones that don’t feel exciting, the ones that don’t seem to be doing much at all.
Those are the ones that compound.
And one day, after enough reps, you look up and realize you’re a completely different person.
Then you can optimize.
But until the basics are achieved, the optimal doesn’t matter.
Stop chasing perfect.Start perfecting the basics.
